Robyn’s Family History

In African countries,
there was often a
“griot” who was responsible for remembering and reciting the entire history of each community, including all the names of each family line. Because of this, the griot held a position of high importance. I don’t know if I was a griot in another life, but somehow this endeavor has captured me mind, body & spirit. Not a bad vocation, I might add;)

Take a look around and enjoy my web site-I believe the ancestors are saying: “Remember me. Tell my story. Don’t forget.” Join me on this journey of remembrance!

Why Do I Do This?
To know who my family was, and is, and can be
To understand history and our shared humanity through the lens of my own bloodline
To find the lost limbs of my ancestral tree, and thereby grow even stronger
To document the incredible stories of people and places that otherwise might be forgotten
To reclaim what was stolen during the African Holocaust of slavery
To share my findings with anyone with a passion for family, roots and American history created by Africans

“If you can’t gid rid of the skeleton in your closet, you might as well make it dance.”- George Bernard Shaw

“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”-Jane Howard

“If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people.”-Thich Nhat Hanh
